🇪🇺🇱🇻 PGConf Europe 2025
I had the opportunity to speak at PGConf Europe 2025, held in Riga, Latvia — one of the most prominent PostgreSQL conferences in the world, bringing together contributors, engineers, and database enthusiasts from across Europe and beyond. It was an incredible experience to share insights on Unified Observability using OpenTelemetry with such a knowledgeable and passionate community. I got to meet brilliant innovators, founders, and Postgres enthusiasts, and walked away with so many new perspectives and learnings about where the Postgres industry is headed.
🎤 Talk Title - Unified Observability: Monitoring Postgres Anywhere with OpenTelemetry
Observability is a topic close to my heart, and this talk gave me the perfect stage to dig into it. I focused on how we can achieve Unified Observability for Postgres, no matter where it runs — on the cloud, on Kubernetes, or on bare metal.
I walked attendees through how OpenTelemetry enables consistent telemetry collection (metrics and logs) across diverse environments including CloudNative PG, and how it integrates seamlessly with open-source tools like Prometheus, Loki, and Grafana. I also ran a live demo showing Postgres monitoring in both bare-metal and cloud-native setups — keeping costs low without sacrificing visibility.
